It’s no secret that fruits and vegetables are good for you. By eating more of these, you’re naturally consuming food packed full of nutrients that your body needs. So, why is this important? To put it simply, nutrients help your body work better and feel stronger.
Sure, you can take greens or supplements but it will never be the same as adding real fruits and vegetables to your meals. If you have the means to purchase a wider variety of foods, here are some easy ways to eat more fruits and veggies:
// Buy fruits and veggies that have already been chopped. If you’re limited on time and hate chopping, most grocery stores have a variety of options. If the selection at your local grocery store is limited for vegetables, check out the salad mixes and try stir frying them instead of eating them cold.
// Frozen fruits and vegetables are not any less nutritious than fresh ones. Plus, their shelf life is way longer. You can buy frozen veggies and fruits about once a month or more so that if fresh ones go bad between grocery trips, you have options ready to go. And an added perk, most frozen vegetables and fruits are already chopped.
// Canned vegetables and fruits are also a great option, they contain just as many nutrients as fresh ones. Canned food has a very long shelf life and the preservation process makes it very safe to eat.
This simple solution isn’t always as easy as it sounds. There are a lot of factors that contribute to getting the foods you need including your income level and where you live but we’ll save that conversation for another time.
